About

Creeping Expansion Magazine is dedicated to showcasing fiction & poetry from working class writers.  Our small team is passionate about creating a platform for a perspective which is often overlooked.

Why we set up Creeping Expansion: As avid consumers of fiction, we were becoming increasingly aware of what a rarity it was to read a piece that spoke to our working class experience in all its rich variations, & so we set about creating a magazine dedicated to showcasing the working class experience in the UK.

Our name is reclaimed from Iain Duncan Smith's 2008 comments on the "creeping expansion" of "an underclass". Which was largely used as a point of reference by the media & politicians during the rhetoric around the 2011 riots.
